Abstract:
The column is the heart of the liquid chromatography system. The silica-based column for revered phase chromatography is used most widely. We review this column concerning the characteristics of totally porous silica gel, the synthesis and the characteristics of octadecylsilylation of silica gel and the methods and the importance of end-capping of residual silanol groups. In particular, we introduce the endcapping using high-emperature silylation in detail.
